The Challenge

Microsoft UK wanted to have a CSR activity for their new staff at the Microsoft Experience Store in Oxford Circus
The goal was to raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion in the community

The Process

Access Earth provided extensive Accessibility Awareness Training to the 135 staff members of the Microsoft Experience Store in Oxford Circus, UK. The training covered a range of topics to help staff understand the importance of accessibility for customers and to provide them with the knowledge and tools to recognize and provide feedback to local businesses. Topics included accessibility laws and regulations, design considerations, and empathy building exercises. The training aimed to empower staff with the knowledge they needed to make a positive impact on the accessibility of the businesses in the local area.

Following the training, a mapping event was organized with the staff, during which they put their training into action by recognizing and providing feedback to local businesses in Paddington Station and Oxford Circus. Using Access Earth’s platform, the staff were able to add data on over 2500 places to the platform, providing valuable insights to local businesses for making improvements. The event was a great success, with most participants noting that they began to notice issues in local businesses that they had not noticed before. This helped to raise awareness of accessibility issues and to make a positive impact on the local community.
